Bulamu (“Life” in Uganda) serves communities in Uganda where GLI operates to provide services and support that promote the quality of life.

In September of 2017, Isabelle Fries launched the Bulamu Community Foundation at GLI’s iKnow Concert Series in Kabale, Uganda. The major focuses of Bulamu are: Education Investments; Workforce Development and Job Creation Programs; GLI’s Public Health Music Initiatives; Research Projects and Program Evaluation. GLI and the foundation also work very closely together to listen and think to address immediate or emergency situations in local communities in Uganda.

The Bulamu Foundation is already impacting the health and vitality of communities in Uganda less than a year after it’s formation.

With the support of Isabelle Fries and her foundation in 2017, 44,000 Ugandans attended the iKnow Concert Series and more than 8,000 received a free HIV test among other health services. The foundation also distributed emergency funds after deadly mudslides around Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda in Fall 2017. Alongside the tragic loss of life, dozens of families lost crops, homes, and more.

The Bulamu Foundation is well-positioned to provide swift action in these types of emergency situations in coordination with GLI and the Entusi Resort and Retreat Center staff.
